Coaches thoughts.....

Coach Cliff gives his thoughts on our 1st league home game of the season

Hi Chieftains Fans,

It was great to be back home on Saturday to play in front of you guys again, it always seems like normality has been resumed to life when the hockey season starts.

After our game in Oxford last week we knew we had to improve in certain areas as will be the case for a while as we assess where we are with certain aspects of the game.

MK will always turn up and work hard and Saturday was no different, they are sometimes a little unpredictable which can make them hard to play against, but what’s important is that we keep our standards high, whatever the score / opposition / time in the game, which I felt we did for parts of the game and then no so much in other parts, but it’s easy to slip when the score was what it was. What was encouraging was for the scoring to be spread throughout the line up, everyone to play a fair amount of minutes, and for us to get a bit more practice on the PP which was better than in Oxford but still some way off where it needs to be.

This version of the Chieftains is still in its infancy but we will continue to work to get better week after week and keep evolving as the heat gets turned up with games against different opposition.

Thanks to everyone who came out. Was great to be back.

See you all soon,

Cliff.
