Coaches thoughts.....
Coach Cliff gives his thoughts on the Invicta away game
Hi Chieftains Fans,
I hope everyone is ok and not too waterlogged where you are, after driving home through an ocean on Sunday it did make me think how lucky we are to have such a good following on the road, you guys certainly bought the noise to Gillingham on Sunday and gave the boys an extra boost on what was a tough night for all concerned, however always worth it when you come home with the points.
The conditions in the Invicta rink were as bad as I think I’ve ever seen down there, whilst it is even for both teams so I can’t really complain, it doesn’t make for a particularly entertaining game, it was nigh on impossible to string 2 passes together and skating with the puck was challenging as well. When we go to rinks like that we know we have to change the way we play, which I think took us too long to come to terms with but when we did we got just enough done to bag the points and get out of there.
This weekend we travel to another rink with its own unique ‘charms’ where once again we will have to change the way we play to suit the surroundings, we are looking forward to getting Dixy and Ollie back in the line up, 2 players who are huge parts of our teams that we really missed at the weekend. I’m sure we will see plenty of you down there at the seaside, assuming the weather has improved by then!
Thanks for the support and see you all soon,
Cliff.
