Pents-sational!

Pents helps secure the 7-5 win against the Raiders with 4 goals!

Riverside on Sunday was the place to be for the second instalment of the Essex Derby.

It's fair to say it was freezing outside, but for the start of the first period, Chieftains were on fire!

Whilst only 28 seconds into the first period, James Pentecost managed to get his first goal of the night (but there was more to come from him).

The home crowd had only just sat down from celebrating Pents first goal, when TJ Fillery added himself to the score sheet with a great goal.

Within the first 3 minutes of the 1st period, Cheiftains had managed to score another goal courtesy of Sasha Maltsev, The Riverside was definitely rocking!

Raiders looked shell shocked, their netminder looked completely stunned, Romford called a timeout.

The timeout seemed to do the trick, Romford regrouped and looked a lot tighter, they managed to get themselves back together.

Chieftains continued to push throughout the first period with Luca making some great saves to keep a clean sheet, the first period ended 3-0 to the Chieftains.

Pents managed to get himself back on the score sheet at the beginning of the second period, with ex-Chieftain Courtney Grant scoring for Romford, the second period ended 4-1 to the Chieftains.

As the snow began to fall heavy in Chelmsford, there were reports of snowball fights outside the Riverside whilst waiting for the 3rd period to commence, what a night this was turning out to be.

Once again, at the start of a new period (this now being the 3rd) Pents scored another goal (securing him a hat trick). Romford came back hard at the Chieftains, scoring in quick succession and the scoreline was now 5-4 to the Chieftains.

To the relief of the fans, Dan Hitchings stepped up and made it 6-4, but Romford came back with a power play goal which now made things a lot more nerve wracking, the score line was now 6-5 to the Chieftains with time running out fast!

Thankfully, the man who was to be awarded Man of the match, James Pentecost, stepped up again, scoring another great goal. This allowed the Chieftains fans to breathe again and celebrate the bragging rights of a 7-5 win over our Essex rivals, Romford.
