D-man Dan re-signs

Hitchings is back on the blue line!

21 year-old defenceman Dan Hitchings began his ice hockey journey at Chelmsford in the junior ranks. During those junior years Hitchings also enjoyed international experience with GB under 16’s. His senior debut was for his hometown club Romford in 2018/19 and he remained at the Sapphire for the next four seasons. Last season Riverside once again became home ice and Dan very quickly became a solid feature of our defensive wall.

Coach Lewis Clifford wrote “I’m delighted that Dan has agreed to return for another season at Chelmsford. It was important to me to keep the core of the Chelmsford team and develop around that. Dan’s a vastly experienced player that can adapt and most certainly plays with the passion that is needed”. Lewis added “Hitch played for me in South West conference a few years ago so I’m aware of his talent”.

“When asked about returning for the Chieftains Hitchings commented “Last season when I joined Chelmsford Chieftains the players, management and fans all made me feel welcome so that was a big part in me resigning this year. After speaking to Lewis about the coming year it was an easy decision and looking at the team that’s been put together we should be competing to bring silverware back to the riverside!

Hope everyone’s having a great summer and look forward to seeing you in come September”.

Welcome back to Riverside Dan……the home of the Black ’n’ Gold Army!

Dan Hitchings is already fully sponsored so congratulations to those that held his shirts. We will be in touch later into the summer regarding those!
