Russell is back!

Defenceman Russell returns to the Black 'n' Gold for 24/25

Chieftains are delighted to announce the return of defenceman Ben Russell for the 24/25 season. The 30 year old ‘D man of the year’ is not short of experience having played in the UK and across the pond too. 

Coach Clifford commented “It goes without saying that I was always keen to bring Benny back to the Riverside this season. Benny does exactly what it says on the tin, he defends well, leads by example every night and very rarely gives me a moments worry.

Benny is massively respected by all his team mates and he plays big minutes for us every night. Our team is taking shape now and it’s getting closer to seeing it all come together, exciting times”

When asked about his return Benny said “I’m really happy to be back in Chelmsford for another year. Last season was great and it was genuinely the most fun I’ve had playing hockey in a long time which is down to Cliff and the group that he put together.  Whilst we finished short in the league and the cup, winning the playoffs was the icing on the cake for me and I’m really pleased we managed to bring some silverware back to Chelmsford for you all. On reflection though, last season has given me a sense of unfinished business. Building on that playoff win will be huge for us this year and with the team Cliffs put together I think we can go on to bring a few more trophies back to the Riverside.
