Coach Cliff gives his thoughts on another win against Solent Devils...
Hi Chieftains Fans,
I don’t know where time has gone, as we are now into the final week of the regular season, it literally only seems like yesterday that we were in preseason training and now we are 10 days away from the playoffs, which is always the most exciting time of the year.
Last weekend we met the Solent Devils for the final time this season, the only way we can see them again is in a playoff final which as we know from recent history isn’t beyond the realms of possibility. The game certainly wasn’t one for the purists, it was a bit slow and flat, the type of game you see sometimes at the end of a season when both teams have little to play for until the playoffs start, that was never our intention as I am sure it wasn’t the intention of Solent but that’s the way it played out. There was some encouraging signs in our game, the way we saw out a game with a 1 goal lead was positive as there is every chance we will have to do that in the playoffs, and although we only got the 1 powerplay in the game, we executed on it which again is a massive positive for us.
This weekend we play Romford away on Saturday to finish off our league campaign, this is an important game for both teams as we play again the following week when the stakes are much higher in the playoff quarter finals.
Thanks so much for your support through this regular season, we look forward to seeing you for playoff hockey next weekend.
Cheers,
Cliff.
