A double signing!

Tom and Tom join the ranks at Riverside

Chieftains are delighted to announce the signing of two new faces to the squad for the 2025-25 season.

Netminder Tom Adams will be backing-up Jordan Lawday between the pipes for the forthcoming season. The 24-year old from Kingston-upon-Thames has spent the last three seasons with Haringey Huskies, having previously iced at Romford with both the NIHL 1 and NIHL 2 squads.
Also signing on the dotted line is Tom Ravenscroft who will add more strength in depth to an already strong defensive unit at Riverside. He came through the junior ranks at Swindon playing under 18’s at the renowned Okanagan Hockey Academy before making his senior debut with the Wildcats. He made the move to Oxford in 2019 where he remained for four seasons, wearing the captains armband in 2022-23.

On Adam’s’ signing Coach Cliff commented ‘Tom was practicing with us quite a bit last season and when we found out Dom wasn’t coming back due to Uni, he was the natural choice to come in and back up Jordan.  Tom works hard in practice and is really committed to developing his play and pushing himself to the next level. We will be looking for Tom to push in practice and show he wants to take some of the game time from Jordan, I’m looking forward to having him on the team next season.’

Tom Adams had this to say about his move ‘I’m really looking forward to the upcoming season, after skating with the boys for the second half of last season I’m sure Im gonna enjoy being at Chelmsford this year, I’ve been working hard off the ice over the summer so I’m hoping to hit the ground running come September and help the team by securing points when required, the team cliff has put together this season looks strong, and when I was given the opportunity to come over to the riverside I couldn’t have said no. See you all in September!’

Coach Cliff had this to say about signing Ravenscroft ‘Tom contacted me quite early on in the off season and we were back and forth speaking for a bit, he’s had a few challenging seasons but he’s had a good education in Swindon and at OHA and I feel this is an environment where we can push his levels and get him back to the level he is capable of and wants to be at. Tom will learn a lot from the more senior D on the team and I feel he will be a real asset to the black and gold.’

Tom commented ‘Really looking forward to my move to Chelmsford this season, it’s a great club with great fans and as an away player has always been a hard place to play, can’t wait start work with Cliff and all the guys, see you all in September and hopefully bring home some more silverware for you all this season!’
