Coaches thoughts....
Coach Cliff gives his thoughts on our double weekender
Hi Chieftains Fans,
I hope you’re all well, thanks for coming out not once but twice at the weekend.
The weekend just gone was a tough one for us, Saturdays game was a strange one it was flat for the most part and nothing major really happened. I was happy to take the points fairly routinely and on another night we could have scored a few more goals and made it a little more convincing, but a wins a win and 3 points is 3 points.
On Sunday we went in a few players down, all key important players at both ends of the ice, and I think that played a big part in the result.
Barring a defensively poor 10 minutes in the first period I thought we were ok, not great but ok. The game was very fractured with stoppages and penalties but in between all that we played some good hockey and created some good chances.
I would like to know how some of the penalties were called whilst some pretty dangerous stuff was completely ignored, but I know I will never get that answer, it seems where the bar was set literally changed multiple times throughout the game, sometimes on the same shift and it is incredibly hard for both teams to play in those circumstances.
Slough were good value for their win, when we had a weak 10 minutes they jumped all over it and took their chances well. We will meet 3 more times in the league this season and I feel we know much more about them now than we did before.
This coming Sunday we meet Streatham for the first time, another tough test for us and again we will be a little short on key bodies but we will be looking to take the points and get straight back on the win train.
Thanks again for your support at the weekend, see you on Sunday.
Cliff.
