Coaches thoughts.....
Coach Cliff gives his thoughts on our game against Romford Buccanners
Hi Chieftains Fans,
Thanks a lot to all of you who made the short journey over to Romford on Saturday, you certainly got your moneys worth, even if it was a little too close for comfort from our point of view!
We arrived at the rink and then started hearing about players from the Romford Raiders playing on their day off, which obviously we had to pay some attention to, however you have to play whatever’s in front of you regardless of who is and isn’t in the team, I’m not sure where all their normal players had disappeared to. To be fair however, it would be negligent of me not to mention that the players who actually did the damage were predominantly regular Buccaneers.
We started well, really well in fact having a goal chalked off after initially being given on the first shift, then scoring another quite quickly which did stand. From the point of going 1-0 up to pretty much the end of the second period we were all over the place, we weren’t disciplined to our systems and positioning and we weren’t competing hard enough in the necessary areas. We got out of jail really with a serious rally in the 3rd and a great OT period, but we have to view it as a point dropped and start learning lessons from it quickly.
This weekend we play MK Thunder at home, we had a convincing win in a very disjointed game against them the weekend before last and we will be looking to repeat those 3 points, hopefully in a smoother, quicker game than the previous one.
Thanks for the great support in Romford, see you at the rink on Sunday.
Cheers,
Cliff.
