Coach Cliff gives his thoughts on our first weekend of games in 2025

Hi Chieftains Fans,

Firstly I would just like to wish you all a very happy New Year, I hope you all had a great Christmas and enjoyed the festivities.

An up and down weekend for us last weekend, we were on the road for the whole weekend which is always tough and when one of those games is against Slough it gets that little bit tougher.

The game in Slough was a really high quality game, with 2 good teams going at it, but ultimately we came out just short in the overtime period. Whilst it is easy to dwell on the negatives, there were also some massive positives to take from the game and it’s important that we are balanced when we pick the bones out of it.

On Sunday we went to Swindon and we know from our previous visit there that they are tough to play against in their rink and this was no exception. We went a few goals up before Swindon got going and then it got a bit closer than it ever should have, but we held on for the win in the end which is all we are really concerned with on the back end of a double road game weekend.

This weekend we play Solent who we have only met once this season and then on the road to Invicta, it’ll be a tough weekend for a number of reasons but I feel we are in a good place going into it.
