Coaches thoughts...

Coach Cliff gives his thoughts on a busy but brilliant weekend!

Hi Chieftains Fans,

Another weekend ticked off the schedule as we approach the playoffs, just 3 more weeks of league action left now, a double header this weekend followed by 2 single game weekends and then we are there.

This past weekend we had a rare double home game weekend which was nice after quite a bit of travelling and another long journey to come this weekend.  Ultimately the objective going into the weekend was to get 6 points and to try and get everyone some ice time, I think we achieved both of those things.

Saturday against Cardiff started slowly, it was a bit flat, I think playing on the back of winning the cup 6 days before left us a little bit slow out of the traps which is to be expected, but we slowly went through the gears and had a convincing win by the end of the night, goals were shared around the team which is always a good thing and we got ourselves set up for Sundays game against Invicta.

Sundays game was a much closer affair where we had to be way more on our game, Invicta have a very good roster, I really don’t think that’s their league position tells the full story, they have a number of guys on their team who can and do cause damage on a regular basis and it’s vital that you’re on your game when you play them. We managed to get everyone some ice time and got the win, I think on balance of play the 5-2 result was fair and no one could feel hard done by out of that.

This weekend we head over to Wales to face Cardiff again before returning home to play Romford in our charity have. We haven’t seen Romford for quite some time, it will be interesting to see how they have changed over the past few months ahead of a likely playoff matchup against them in a few weeks time.

Thanks a lot for all your support over the weekend, see you soon.

Cliff.
