Lightning forward signs!

Hallden Barnes-Garner joins the Black ’n’ Gold

Chelmsford Chieftains are delighted to welcome 25 year-old forward Hallden Barnes-Garner to Riverside for the 2023/24 NIHL 1 season.

Starting his hockey career in Milton Keynes he progressed his junior career in Slough before moving to Europe to try his luck in the Austrian Under 18’s Leagues. In 2016 he returned to his hometown and signed for the Thunder in NIHL 1. In 2019 he made the step up to the Lightning where he has been icing in the NIHL. Now he’s decided to make the move and join his previous MK coach Lewis Clifford at Riverside.

Coach Lewis Clifford commented “Halds is a guy that will be loved at the riverside both by fans, but most importantly team mates. I’ve had him on teams several times in the past and he’s a guy I love to work with. He will do anything and everything asked of him and brings people together off the ice. Halds will bring a lot to our group, he’s no slouch in front of the net and no stranger to mixing it up physically when needed. He has developed a lot over the past few years and I’m sure he will continue that in a Chieftains shirt”.

Hallden remarked about his move “I’m delighted to sign for Chelmsford this year and can’t wait to get started. I feel this is a new challenge for me and I’m hungry and raring to go. I’ve heard nothing but good things about the passionate fans and the lads there. Me and Cliff have worked together a lot and good to be playing under him again as I believe he appreciates what I bring to a team. I can’t wait to get started and hopefully bring some silverware back to the passionate fans. See you soon”.

So Welcome to Riverside Hallden…welcome to the Black ’n’ Gold!
