Pents-sational signing!

Chieftains welcome back Pents to the 2023/24 line-up!

Chieftains are delighted to announce that James Pentecost will be returning for his third season in the Black ’n’ Gold. The 33 year-old Peterborough born centre played the majority of his hockey career in his home City before moving to Haringey in the 2019/20 season. Pents originally came to us after a loan period from Huskies in the 2021/22 season. He became an instant hit with the fans and gelled perfectly with the squad. With his loan period coming to an end he briefly returned to the Huskies, but the wrench was too much and after a couple of games he made a return to Riverside, this time on a permanent basis.  After putting up over 30 points last season it’s not a surprise that Pents was one of the first names on the list for new head coach Lewis Clifford.

Coach Lewis commented "I’m very pleased to have James back on board. He is an asset to the team and has a big impact on the ice. From what I have seen of him playing he reads the game very well and makes sure he is in the right place for really smart plays. He’s a hard working player that’s strong on the puck and is a handful for any opposing player both in front and behind the opposition’s net”.

When asked about making Chelmsford his hockey home for a third season Pents remarked “It’s hard to believe I’ve already been here for 2 years. Although there’s been a few changes over that time, the teams desire to win and what it means to be a Chieftain has always been the same. This is a top organisation, with a great history and I’m excited to be back and a part of it. The passion and the energy the fans have is something every player wants to play for, and I can’t wait to see the place full again. Cliff has put together a strong team and I’m ready to do my part to bring silverware back to Riverside. See you all in September”.

So welcome aboard flight 2023/24 Pents, Welcome back to Black ’n’ Gold airways…..boarding will begin in September!
