New puck stopper signing!

Welcome to the Black 'n' Gold Ethan!

Chelmsford Chieftains are pleased to announce the signing of netminder Ethan Frain for the 2023-24 season.

The 22 year-old began his senior career in Basingstoke protecting the net for the Buffalos in NIHL2. After the covid shutdown he signed for Swindon Wildcats 2. He iced for both Bristol Pitbulls in NIHL 1 and Swindon Wildcats 2 in 2022/23, having a brief spell at the end of the season where he was loaned to MK Lightning as back-up.

He will be joining Jordan Lawday between the pipes at Riverside to make a solid puck stopping duo for the forthcoming 2023/24 season.

Coach Lewis Clifford commented “Losing Luca following his university place being confirmed was something I wasn’t expecting when I first agreed to come here, but I always tell young players that I coach, education is most important, having said that, I’m more than happy to be bringing Ethan in to the Chieftains squad this year. He has recent experience of playing and backing up at this level and higher over the last couple of seasons and from what I’ve seen in practice already he’s committed to coming in and working hard for us. I look forward to seeing Ethan between the pipes when the season rolls around”.

Ethan remarked “I’m really excited to be joining the Chieftains and can’t wait for the season to get started. I’ve heard nothing but good things about the fan base and team. I’m thrilled to be able to play under Cliff after hearing great things from various people around the leagues, and hearing his plans for this year made it an easy decision to sign and help win some silverware”
