Incoming Canadian Forward!
Welcome to the Riverside Damon Porter
Chieftains management are delighted to be able to announce the signing of Canadian forward Damon Porter for the 2023/24 season.
The 24 year-old was born in Calgary where he enjoyed his junior hockey years. In 2019/20 he moved across the border to America, joining Arizona State University in the ACHA where he has remained for the past three seasons.
On the new signing coach Lewis Clifford remarked "The search for imports was a long process this year, with the changes to work permits and since Brexit it’s been harder, so to come across a player the calibre of Damon who has a British passport was a real find. Damon possesses the qualities I was looking for, offensive ability, good skating and ability to play in all 3 zones of the ice. Damon has played in some high quality leagues as a youth player and combined this with his studies the last 3 years, he is coming over to experience the British culture and try something different whilst being a Chieftain and I’m really looking forward to working with him alongside the rest of the team".
Porter answered “I’m excited to call Chelmsford home, and to begin this next chapter of my hockey career and life overseas in the U.K as this is a dream come true for me!” He continued “I have heard great things about Chelmsford and I can’t wait to experience it for myself and to get to work with the team” .
