Coaches thoughts

Coach Cliff gives his latest thoughts…

Hi Chieftains fans,

Thanks a lot for the support on Sunday, it seemed a little strange having one game at the weekend but we need to get used to it as that’s how it will be for the next few weeks. 1 game weekends are great as long as you take points in that lone game as there’s a long wait for the next opportunity if you don’t.

I was really pleased with the way the boys played on Sunday, we started a little slowly, it took us a while to wake up and start playing, having said that being 2-1 down at the end of the first felt a little harsh as we had created probably 4 or 5 grade A chances in that period alone. From the start of the second period onwards we started to play our game and there were times when we were spending prolonged stints in the Devils zone, it’s nice to see things we practice coming together on a match day like that.  The Devils are a good team, they’re certainly no mugs and they play hard, so to walk away from our first 2 meetings with them with 4 points is definitely a huge bonus.

This weekend we travel to Milton Keynes, (well you guys do, I just jump my car for 5 minutes,) I would say I feel guilty about that but I’m definitely getting my miles in this season so you can all experience the same journey in reverse! The MK arena is a big building that will probably be quite quiet on the night, it’s important that we adjust to the ice size quickly and those of you travelling make plenty of noise to create a buzz for the boys.

Each week I comment on the support we receive and each home game you guys don’t disappoint, so it was nice to send you home with a win on Sunday after a couple of off weeks.

Thanks a lot for reading, see you round the rink.

Cliff.
