Coaches thoughts
Coach Cliff give his thoughts on our away game to Oxford
Hi Chieftains Fans,
Thanks for the support on the road on Sunday, it’s hard to see you guys through the netting at Oxford but we definitely heard you and knew you were there.
We just had the one game at the weekend, and as I’ve said before anytime we have a 1 game weekend it’s important to get the points, the league games are flying by now and getting a win in Oxford was important to us.
Oxford have improved a lot since the last few times we played them and they are a hard team to play against playing in one of the tougher buildings in the league. I knew as long as we didn’t get frustrated with the Oxford game plan we would be fine, the game would break eventually, and when it did we got a couple of quick ones. The only period of the game I felt like we got away from our plan was the remainder of the second period after we went 2-0 up, but we got refocused in the break and saw the game out professionally in the 3rd period. It probably wasn’t a game for the purists, but we can only play the team in front of us and adjust our game plan accordingly, and the boys bought into that and did what was required.
We now head into another 1 game weekend against MK, a team who’s not had the best of seasons but their results the last couple of weekends have shown they may be turning a corner, they have made some new signings who I’m not familiar with and have had close games with Slough and Solent recently, we will have to make sure we take care of the details in our game and work at full capacity to seal the points.
Thanks as always for reading and your continued support.
Cliff.
