Coaches thoughts

Coach Cliff gives his thoughts on our game against Streatham

Hi Chieftains Fans,

I hope you’re all well and looking forward to the next few weeks of action.

It was a quiet week for us this week, just the one game against Streatham, and we came out on the wrong side of a tight game that literally could have gone either way. It’s a funny time of year where we have things to work on but at the same time the main thing is getting through it and out the other side.

Pretty much everything between Streatham and us was even in the game, shots, high danger chances, penalty minutes, unfortunately we just switched off late in the game for a moment and they used their experience to capitalise, I like to think in a higher stakes game those small errors wouldn’t have happened, however we will still look at them and make sure we know where we went wrong.  It was good to get Dom some more valuable minutes against a top end team and he performed admirably, coming up big for us in certain situations and making key saves.

We now have the last weekend of pre arranged business to take care of, ourselves and Oxford will get to have a look at each other one final time before we go head to head in the playoffs over Easter weekend, and then a trip to Invicta for our last regular season game.

The playoff matchups are all set now, it will be interesting to see how the 4 ties play out, but ultimately it doesn’t matter what goes on elsewhere we just need to take care of our own business, to win the playoffs you have to win 3 tough ties over 4 games and they will all be against good teams with the same goal in mind, it promises to be a very exciting couple of weeks for teams and supporters alike.

Thanks for reading, see you at the rink,

Cliff.
