Coaches thoughts
Coach Cliff gives his thoughts on the playoff quarter finals
Hi Chieftains Fans,
So we have made it to the end, one way or another, the season will be over by this time next week and I’m sure you’re all as hopeful as I am that it will be with a trophy in hand.
The quarter finals weekend didn’t end up springing any surprises in the end, and I guess in reality it is only fitting that the top 4 teams in the regular season are left standing for the final 4 weekend.
The weekend was a tricky one for us to get through, Oxford came to play both nights, and made our life very difficult for 20 minutes each night, but once we broke them down both nights there was no looking back, I’m sure Oxford will be a different beast next year, this year it seemed they got their recruitment a bit wrong in the summer and things just unravelled for them after a promising start, they have the potential to be a real force in this league with their fanbase and catchment area, and I look forward to locking horns with them again next season.
This weekend we play a team we certainly need no introduction to, we have played Slough 10 times this season, and I am not going to lie, it got a bit boring towards the end of the regular season, however there will be no boredom in this game, all the chips are in and it’s win or go home, how can you not be excited about a game like this.
In the other semi, Streatham who have to be viewed as the favourite, take on Solent who we know can cause an upset on their day, so all in all it should be a great weekend for all, teams and spectators alike.
I hope you’ve all enjoyed the season, you’ve certainly seen a bit of everything, your support and noise has been phenomenal all season, so from me and the team I would just like to say a massive thank you.
It's been a long season but in some ways has felt like 5 minutes, I guess time files when you’re having fun, hopefully we will see you at the Palace at the weekend.
Cliff.
