We’ve got the Power!
Another great signing for the black 'n' gold...
Chieftains are delighted to announce the signing of Mikey Power for the 2024/25 season.
The 23 year-old forward joins the Black ’n’ Gold from Romford Raiders where he spent the last two seasons playing in the NIHL. Previously he had iced for both Milton Keynes Lightning and Bracknell Bees at NIHL level hockey.
His junior hockey career began in Romford moving on to Slough and Swindon via the Okanagan Hockey Academy. In 2018 he decided to try his luck across the pond and signed for Utah Outliers in the Western States Hockey League. He enjoyed three seasons in the USA before returning home to ice for the Bees.
Coach Lewis Clifford stated “I’m really happy to be able to bring Mikey in, he’s a player who I have coached before and came up big for me at the business end of the season. Mikey is a great guy to have around the team, off the ice he’s great in the room and with the boys, and on the ice he can play pretty much anywhere he is asked, has a good eye for the net and can play the game whichever way we need him to on any given night”.
When asked about the move Mikey remarked “I am excited to be signing for the Chieftains. I have heard nothing but good things about the club and supporters from Cliff. I came to watch a game last season and the fans and atmosphere were great. I’m looking forward to trying to win some silverware with the boys this season.
Welcome to the Black ’n’ Gold Mikey!
